Your Best Year Yet: FREE 90 day reset!

Myth: It takes 21 days to form a new habit.

If you’re like most people (me included up until recently!) you would believe that habits are formed by completing a task for 21 days in a row. Turns out this ‘rule’ is more a myth. It began as a misinterpretation of Dr. Maxwell Maltz’s work, who was a plastic surgeon in the 1950’s. He discovered that it would take patients a minimum of 21 days to get used to seeing their new face, or, after an amputation, the patient would sense a phantom limb for about 21 days before adjusting to the new situation.

At no point did Maltz find that 21 days of task completion forms a habit.

But hey, it’s very marketable isn’t it?

On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behaviour becomes automatic – 66 days to be exact.  Again that’s just the average, precisely how long it takes a new habit to form varies from person to person, behaviour to behaviour and circumstance to circumstance. In fact, studies have shown it can take anywhere from 18 days to 254 days.

So I thought 90 days would be a good start – it’s more than the average and it’s a good round number.

3 months.

12 weeks.

90 days.

So what can I expect?

I am going to say first up that I am not a Doctor or a fancy white coat expert of any kind. These are the tips and tricks that I use and I am not claiming that they are a blanket approach that will suit everyone. By coming along for this journey you are taking full responsibility and agree to indemnify me of any damages that may occur while taking any advice. Sorry to be all serious, but there is always one (insert eye roll here).

There will be 12 weeks of content, covering everything from better sleep and morning routines to unleashing your creativity and detoxing your body. We will all have the chance to connect over on the Group Facebook Page and by using the hashtag #my90dayreset on Instagram, we’ll be able to find each other and cheer each other on!

This is not a diet plan

If you’re looking for specific meal plans and exercises that claim to give you a bikini body, you’re in the wrong place. This is about creating healthy habits that will serve you long after that damn bikini doesn’t fit anymore! This is about filling up your cup, so to speak, in all areas of your existence. It’s about sharing some of the BEST hacks I know in the hope you can make some lasting positive changes in your own life.

Buddy up

Can you think of someone that would benefit from this? A sister? A friend? Your mum? When you team up with someone to implement changes, you’re more likely to stick to it when the going gets tough. Maybe you could even call someone, a mentor perhaps that you could check in with once per week to see how you’re going with it all. Short of that, declare your commitment on the Facebook Group and I will hold you accountable.

Baby steps

I have no intention of giving you 12 weeks worth of content on Day 1, you’ll be telling me to shove my 90 days where the sun don’t shine – guaranteed. We’re going to do this slowly because we are going to sustain it. For some of you that might be too slow, you might want to get straight into the nitty-gritty from day 1. All I can say is, just keep checking in what’s happening on the Group page and when it floats your boat, come join in on the fun.

PS Buy a journal for next week. Make it pretty, something that you’re proud to write in. (hint, hint Kmart + Officeworks have the goods at the moment!)

Join us over on the private Facebook Group where you will receive all the content and connect with other 90day’ers. I am so excited for this you guys!
